Hope Notes 12/29/21

December 29, 2021

Hello Hoper ~
Only a few more days until the New Year appears before us like a satiny ribbon unfurling from its spool. At the beginning of anything, the possibilities are always endless.  There have been no endings, no completions, and no finales yet.  You have the chance to start fresh, make new habits, or get rid of old ones that do you no good.  Yet I don’t know why we so often feel we must wait for the New Year to do this!  God gives us a fresh start each and every day. “The faithful love of the LORD never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)  We don’t have to worry that what we did or who we were yesterday will change His love for us, or cause Him to pull back on His mercy and grace.  The possibilities to receive His love and mercy are endless.  Every morning is a new day, a chance to start anew.  He is gracious enough to give us breath for another day.  What better way to start your morning than by simply thanking Him for that very breath, putting your day and your life into His hands, and starting fresh with new resolve to make that day count for eternity.  You don’t need to wait for the New Year to do that; our almighty Father gives us the opportunity each and every day!
Wishing you all a Happy and Blessed New Year – Lois

SPIRITUAL CARE  SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE
Let’s Get Together
(Mark 10:29-30; Acts 2:42-47; 2 Corinthians 5:14-6:2)
Whether you’re an introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in between you may be all “peopled” out after the holidays. Dialing back the social calendar can offer some respite, but it is never a long term solution. In fact, we need each other. Our need for community and God’s plan to bring us all together are themes that run all the way from Genesis to Revelation. This morning we’ll track that theme and camp out on a few specific ideas that will help us utilize the community God has given us in Hope Christian Fellowship. You’ll also be challenged to step into the role God has for you in this community.

PRAYER HUDDLE:
If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:15 in GoZone 2.

VERSE OF THE MONTH:
Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER:
Join us Sunday mornings at 8:00 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).
2022 BIBLE READING PLANS: Bookmarks available now!
Did you know that one of the best ways to grow your relationship with God is to read the bible regularly? We want to equip you to do so by providing a bible reading plan for the upcoming year! We’ve created a year-long plan as well as a “read through the Psalms” option (blue bookmark). If you followed along with our plan last year, we also have Year 2 (red bookmark) available for you now! Both of these are available on bookmarks for you to keep in your bible and follow along with. Make sure to pick one up this Sunday in the lobby!

HOPE DAILY: Available on Apple Podcasts & Spotify!
Another way we hope to equip you in engaging with the word on a regular basis is through our devotional podcast, Hope Daily. We post a 10 minute episode daily, Monday through Friday. You’ll hear from a variety of our staff as they share devotional thoughts and scriptures. You can listen on Apple, Spotify, or on our website

BIBLE STUDY: Do I Have To Live Stressed Out?
Starting January 5th from 7-8pm

You may know someone who lives stressed out, and there’s a pretty good possibility that person is you. As we start the New Year, we’d like to invite you to explore with us whether or not we are doomed to live forever overwhelmed by stress.  Does being a Christian have any impact on how we walk in stressful situations?  Can we discover truths in Scripture that help us see clearly on what a faith approach means to the uncertainties and pressures of life?  We’ll look at some of God’s promises and explore ten lies that trip us up and cause us to get lost in stress. Join us in person or via livestream each week. A workbook will be available for everyone who signs up to help us keep track of what we’re learning and help us put it into practice. Don’t miss out on this transformative study, and make every effort to join us in person for the best possible experience! Sign-up in the lobby now and be sure to pickup a workbook!
2022 DEACON TEAM:
We’re excited to be welcoming six new deacons to our team in addition to renewing the terms of all our current deacons for this upcoming year! View the entire team listing on the bulletin board in the back of the auditorium.

“UNDECORATE” WITH US: 1/8 at 10:00
With Christmas coming to a close and the New Year being ushered in, we need to put away our Christmas decorations and start fresh here at church! We could use some willing hearts and helpful hands to accomplish this task. Please join us Saturday 1/8 at 10:00 if you’re able. Any questions contact Rob Jacoby at rjacoby107@comcast.net

LOST AND FOUND:
Left an item here at church? Check our lost & found bin at the back of the auditorium underneath the bulletin board on the sound booth. Left a tumbler or water bottle? Those will be in the kitchen sink immediately to the left when entering the kitchen from the auditorium! Please grab your missing items before they get tossed!

YOUNG ADULTS
The Young Adults ministry at Hope is a group of post-high school through their twenties adults truly seeking to explore life, engage culture, and empower change while remaining grounded in the Word of God. This Ministry was born out of a spiritual need for Young Adults to have a forum to express their deepest, most challenging questions of faith and to not be intimidated while doing so. Topics of conversation range from diving into specific books or passages of the Bible, to pressing current events and hot world topics. We will resume meeting on the 1st & 3rd Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 in January. For questions contact Pastor Dave at dave@hopechristianfellowship.org

WHAT’S THE BIBLE HAVE TO SAY? 1/4 at 7:30
The Bible has been the main text for Christians since its inception. But that was almost over 1,500 years ago. Is the Bible still relevant to our modern world? How should we read it? What are the assumptions we, knowingly or unknowingly, bring to the text? We’ll look at these questions and more over our next few meetings starting in January.
HOPE YOUTH
There will be no Youth Group 1/2 – Happy New Year!

WEDNESDAY NIGHTS:

Join us starting January 5th at 7:00 for a 10 week bible study series called “Real Relationship: Actually Getting to Know Jesus.” This study is open to all teens ages 6th grade and up. Any questions contact Pastor Dan at danlein@hopechristianfellowship.org

GOOGLE CALENDAR:
Parents, stay up to date with everything happening by adding the Hope Youth Google calendar to your own! Click here to view

HOPE KIDS
Children are very important to us at Hope. Three out of four Christians decide to follow Christ before the age of 12, so we believe our children’s ministry is vital to the life and growth of the Church. We are serious about God and serious about fun!

SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMS:
We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both the 8:30 & 10 services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly and enthusiastic teachers and helpers who are background checked to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children, who are full of wonder about who God is! We have an infant room, one-year-old room, toddler classroom, and a pre-K classroom in order to serve each child with an age-appropriate curriculum. K-5th graders gather in the youth room for our opening service called The GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever through worship, games and an interactive lesson through teaching and videos. The K-5th graders are then split up into age appropriate small groups to dive deeper into the lesson where they can share their own experiences and ask any questions they may have.

WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS:
Beginning January 5th at 7:00 we will be offering programs for all children ages 0-5th grade. We hope this frees parents up to come out to Wednesday Night Bible Study! Plus, we love the opportunity to have another chance in the week to engage with our Hope kids and teach them about Jesus.
