I’m still riding the high from our Worship Night this past Wednesday. The focus was on being able to praise God no matter what phase of life you find yourself in – a time of harvest, the dry desert, a fiery trial, or the deepest valley. It’s easy to praise Him when things are going great but much faith is required to give Him the praise He is so worthy of when things are bleak and you feel you cannot muster up even the tiniest whisper of praise. Every single one of us in the room that night and, yes, even every one of those on stage praising their hearts out have felt the joy of harvest and the despair of the valley. All of us have either been through a trial, are in the middle of a trial, or about to enter into one yet unknown to us. That’s why it’s important to be able to ‘get your praise on’ no matter what! “Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.” (Psalm 145:1) EVERY day. Without regard to whatever is happening in our lives at the moment. God alone is always worthy; He is always good and always deserving of our praise. “The LORD is great and deserves our greatest praise! He is the only God worthy of our worship.” (1 Chronicles 16:25) If you missed Worship Night, I’m sorry. It is one of the best spiritual encouragers and mood lifters you can experience. Next time we have one……don’t miss out!
In every season… Lois
SPIRITUAL CARE
Confidence Because of Calling (2 Corinthians 10:7-11)
We all know people who are full of confidence in a way that makes everyone else irritated. The self-focus of this kind of confidence seems to think everyone else matters less and is not worth their time. Many people – Christians included – assume from people like this that confidence is the same as pride. Basically, you have to have a big head to be sure of what you’re doing. However, in these few verses, Paul exudes confidence without surrendering his humility. He warns the Corinthians that he is coming to correct them if they don’t turn from their direction quickly. But this is not about Paul being higher or better. Instead, it is about recognizing that he can walk by faith since God has given him this calling. What callings have we clearly been given from God that need us to walk in confidence by faith?
WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDY: New classes start tonight!
Join us at 6:30 for coffee & a sweet treat before we head into classes at 7:00. We’ll have HopeKids! and Hope Youth programs, in addition to our studies for adults (see details below).
- RUTH Led by Pastor Dan Cagey foreign relations, a nation in turmoil, and a people wandering away from God may feel like an accurate description of life today however it perfectly describes the setting for the Old Testament book of Ruth. One of the most powerful love stories in all of Scripture Ruth serves as a beautiful example of both commitment and obedience in every day life. Through this 4 week study we will explore the book of Ruth, see what it reveals about how God works in the mundane, and apply the eternal truths found to our own lives.
- DISCIPLESHIP Led by Pastor Mark What do you think of when you hear the word disciple? Maybe you think about the Twelve Disciples that we read about in the Gospels. But did you know that it also applies to the followers of Jesus throughout the book of Acts? And that Jesus told the Twelve to go and make more disciples? That means that if you are a follower of Jesus, you are a disciple. So what does that mean for you? What is a disciple supposed to do? We’re going to take four short weeks to look at this idea. After this study is over, we’re going to create opportunities for you to be discipled and to disciple others!
PRAYER HUDDLE:
If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!
SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER:
Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).
ANNOUNCEMENTS
For the month of September, we averaged $10,087 per week bringing our annual average up to $9503. Our annual target is $9950 per week, so we exceeded that on average for the five weeks of September and inched our annual average up a little closer. As we head into the fall, we know that the Lord is at work in our church in powerful ways, and we are praying for His financial provision to fuel all of that. As we grow, so do our needs, so we are grateful for each person who faithfully and sacrificially gives to the Lord!
