Hope Notes 07/10/2024

July 10, 2024
Hello Hoper,
I’m sure we’ve all hear the saying time marches on. Is it just me or does it sometimes seem like time is not just marching, but flying along at warp speed?  I don’t know what it is about getting older; everything feels like it moves at an accelerated pace.  This makes me want to be sure I take the time to slow down and appreciate every moment I can.  I couldn’t always do that back when I was working, or raising a child.  Being retired and having a grandchild is a whole different thing.  I CAN stop and go at his pace.  I CAN allow myself the luxury of taking in the details of everyday life.  Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “Everything on earth has its own time and its own season”. I believe that my season now is one meant to inspire me to pause and reflect.  It is a gift from the God who “alters the times and seasons….” (Daniel 2:21)  When I was deep in the throes of toddler care, I remember people saying ‘The days are long but the years are short’. Ironically, the same still applies for me today!  Sometimes the days are long, either because there is a lot of (grand)child care going on OR because I don’t have much I need to do.  My friend recently said to me, ‘Free time can feel luxurious or it can feel unending with nothing to do’. I don’t know what season of time you are in, but one thing is for sure.  It will change.  If that makes you uneasy, Psalm 31:15 reassures us that our heavenly Father is in charge of every single season of our lives. “My times are in your hands….”
On the Father’s Time…..Lois

SPIRITUAL CARE

SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE:
Morning of Worship
Join us this Sunday for a full morning of worship as we enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise! Our focus this day will be on believing for the the impossible, trusting that God is still working in the waiting, and even being challenged that our prayers are too small. When we get together and sing the truths from God’s Word and the promises He has made, it can’t help but grow our faith deeper in the One who is able to do exceedingly more than all we can ask or imagine! Don’t miss this Morning of Worship and begin now to ask God to prepare your heart for how He wants to move and speak to you.

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY: Tonight at 7:00
Join us as we continue our series in the book of Philippians! While we can’t exactly put ourselves in the shoes of the Philippians we can sympathize with a church that is being overrun by a worldly culture and ridiculed for its belief. Though they may not manifest in the same way, we can feel many of the same pressures that the Philippine Christians felt. In this way Paul’s message of encouragement, his directions to evangelize by living out loud for Jesus, and warnings against false teachings ring loudly in our ears. Through this Bible study our goal will be to read Philippians plainly, interpret its original meaning to its original audience, and apply the principles present within the text to our daily walk. Please note: there will not be Hope Youth or HopeKids! programs for this series.

FALL BIBLE STUDY: Teachers Wanted!
Do you have a heart for teaching and want to lead a Wednesday Night class? We are looking for interested teachers who would like to head up a study in the fall! Send your class topic, outline, and description to Pastor Mark at markott@hopechristianfellowship.org by July 21st.

PRAYER HUDDLE:
If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER:
Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

ANNOUNCEMENTS

GIVING REPORT:
For the month of June, we averaged $9542 per week bringing our annual average to $9535. This remains below our annual target of $9950. This general fund is what fuels our ministry and pays for all of our budgeted necessities like mortgage, utilities, supplies, and salaries as well as our expenses for events and our giving towards missions. Our building fund giving averaged $580 per week. Our weekly target is $2000 per week. This is the fund which we recently established to start aggressively saving toward our need for more space.

HOPE YOUTH
VBS VOLUNTEER EVENT:
We know many of our teens are working hard this summer to help make VBS special for all the little ones who come through our doors. That’s why we want to celebrate you with a special event! Any student who serves on 5 or more days in the Hope Scuba VBS will be invited to a free night of pizza, party, and bowling on August 8th! I know many of you have already started serving, but if for whatever reason you haven’t jumped in yet, what are you waiting for?! VBS is always a blast and students find their time spent to be valuable and rewarding. Not only do we get to serve God in a powerful way, there is really no replacement for the energy, camaraderie, and fellowship that comes from a big team effort like VBS. If you haven’t signed up I encourage you to find a spot to plug in here! And don’t forget to clear your calendar for bowling on August 8th! Any Hope Youth students who sign-up will receive a special punch card which will help them track their progress for the bowling party!
