Hope Notes 06/26/2024

June 26, 2024
Hello Hoper,
Way ‘back in the day’ I had to have a heart catheterization done.  This was years ago when they actually admitted you the day before, did the procedure the next day, and then sent you home the following day. That would never happen with today’s insurance!  Anyway, the hospital chaplain paid me a visit upon admission and asked me what religion I wanted put on my ID bracelet.  I took a look at his list and none of them applied!  I told him this and he said I could simply put ‘other’.  No way!  I am a child of God, a born again believer, God’s masterpiece……and that’s what I wanted on my bracelet. He was genuinely puzzled by my response, which I found troubling since he was the hospital chaplain.  I tried explaining to him the difference between a religion and a relationship with the one true God. He kept insisting to just check ‘other’.  Well ‘other’ could mean anything!  For heaven’s sake, it could mean I’m a devil worshipper, lol!  He finally realized I wasn’t giving in and so he heaved a great sigh and laboriously hand wrote ‘Born Again Christian’ on my bracelet.  Victory!!  From that moment, every nurse or doctor who checked my ID knew my identity in Christ. “Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” (Galatians 4:7) It compelled me to not only share the gospel, but to be on my best behavior as a representative of Jesus on earth.  We need to think about that every time we wear a Christian tee shirt or get in our cars with the Hope bumper sticker.  We are proclaiming to the world that we are believers; now we’d better make sure we are acting like one!
A child of God…..Lois

SPIRITUAL CARE

SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE:
Cast Out Your Net
(Luke 5: 1-11)

In our faith journey, it’s easy to try to stay in a comfortable place since life gives us our fair share of bumps and bruises. But we have a shared calling as children of God to share what the Lord has done in our lives. This week we will look at the calling that Jesus gave to some of the original disciples to see how we can apply it to our lives today.

SUMMER BIBLE STUDY: Tonight at 7:00
Join us as we continue our series in the book of Philippians! While we can’t exactly put ourselves in the shoes of the Philippians we can sympathize with a church that is being overrun by a worldly culture and ridiculed for its belief. Though they may not manifest in the same way, we can feel many of the same pressures that the Philippine Christians felt. In this way Paul’s message of encouragement, his directions to evangelize by living out loud for Jesus, and warnings against false teachings ring loudly in our ears. Through this Bible study our goal will be to read Philippians plainly, interpret its original meaning to its original audience, and apply the principles present within the text to our daily walk. Please note: there will not be Hope Youth or HopeKids! programs for this series.

FALL BIBLE STUDY: Teachers Wanted!
Do you have a heart for teaching and want to lead a Wednesday Night class? We are looking for interested teachers who would like to head up a study in the fall! Send your class topic, outline, and description to Pastor Mark at markott@hopechristianfellowship.org by July 21st.

PRAYER HUDDLE:
If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER:
Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

WONDERZONE SERVING OPPORTUNITY: Building a foundation of faith!
As we launch into summer, we have continued to see exponential growth in our WonderZone (0-5) classrooms — so much so that we have recently opened a brand new classroom to allow for continued growth and best serve all of our little ones! Among all of our Nursery through Pre-K classes, we have the incredible blessing and opportunity to point our littlest Hopers to faith, teaching them the vital truths that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever! We would love for YOU to join us on this mission and be a part of building a foundation of faith for the next generation.  If you want to make an eternal impact in the lives of our little ones, there is certainly a place for you in our WonderZone! Join one of our teams by filling out this form, and our Preschool Director, Kara May, will be in touch with you.

FOOD PANTRY:
Did you know we have a Food Pantry Ministry here at Hope? If you are in need of groceries, head to our kitchen (door in the front left of the auditorium) after either service. One of our volunteers will be waiting for you and can help you pack up a bag of food! If you’d like to help with this ministry, contact Kathy Cunningham.

HOW TO GIVE:
You can give in-person by check or cash using the offering slot at the back of the auditorium (in the sound booth.) We also have the option to give online using a debit or credit card. You can even set-up a recurring payment plan. We use Simple Church, which is a safe and secure software specifically designed for churches. To give to Hope online, click here, or scan the QR code under the offering slot!
