Hope Notes 03/27/2024

March 27, 2024
Hello Hoper,
How many times do you think we give up on something or someone when God’s blessing is right around the corner? Of course if we KNEW how close the blessing was, we would find it easy to persevere. But that’s not how walking in faith works, is it? I recently read something that was super encouraging to me; something to hold onto when we’re feeling like quitting. It goes like this:
-In the Bible, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. On day 41, the rain stopped. Genesis 7:11-12
-Moses committed murder and hid in the desert for 40 years. Year 41 came, and God called him to help rescue Israel. Acts 7:23-30
-Moses went up on the mountain for 40 days. On day 41, he received the Ten Commandments. Exodus 24:9-18
-The Israelites wandered in the wilderness for 40 years. In year 41, they walked into the Promised Land. Joshua 5:4-6
-Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days. Day 41 came, and David slew him. 1 Samuel 17:16
-Jonah preached a message of repentance to Ninevah for 40 days. On day 41, God stopped His plan to destroy them. Jonah 3:1-5
-Jesus fasted and was tempted for 40 days. On day 41, the devil fled. After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples for 40 days. On day 41, He ascended into Heaven. Matthew 4:1-11
The moral of the story? Don’t give up or give in! The rain will stop, the giant will fall, and you will enter your ‘promised land’. Don’t give up at 40. You might want to ask yourself, 40 what? It could be 40 days, 40 months, or 40 years! Or what if it is something else? What if it is 40 times to repent or say you are sorry? What if it is 40 times to pray for your enemy? What if it is 40 times to ask someone to church? Don’t give up at 40; rest assured, 41 is coming!
To God be the glory  ~ Lois

Jars of Clay | Easter
(2 Cor. 4:7-15)

In 1989, a Philadelphian went to a flea market in Adamstown, PA and bought a picture because he wanted the frame. The picture itself was torn and damaged, so he only paid $4. When he got home and took out the picture so that he could frame what he wanted instead, he found something behind it. It was a copy of the Declaration of Independence that later was sold for over $2.4 million dollars. The look of the picture told all who viewed it that it was worthless. But in truth, its value was hidden by what covered it. On this Easter morning, we’re going to look at Paul’s words that tell a similar tale: “We have this treasure in jars of clay.” He ends this passage by talking about the promise of the resurrection for each person who believes. Let’s be reminded together of the treasure we have in Jesus!

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDIES: New classes start in April!
Join us at 6:30 for hot coffee and a sweet treat before heading into our studies at 7:00. We’ll have HopeKids programs for all ages, as well as a study for Hope Youth, and several adult classes rolling out over the coming weeks:

  • THE LIFE YOU LONG FOR: Led by Dana Ott beginning 4/3 This 4-week study teaches women how to fully step into the life you didn’t even realize you’ve been seeking. In our desire to please God, we often make the mistake of finding our worth in what we do instead of the identity we’ve been given – this series challenges us to live from the quiet center of God’s love rather than the busy treadmill we can easily find ourselves on. These are the lessons we worked through at our Women’s Retreat last October, so if you missed that or want a refresher, be sure to sign up so we can have a workbook prepared for you!
  • HIGH ANXIETY: Led by Pastor Ryan begins 4/3 If you are struggling with anxiety, there is help, but it takes work, time, courage, and patience. In this study, we will address the reality of anxiety as well as the tools that God gives us for conquering that anxiety. We’ll discuss how the enemy uses anxiety to keep us restrained, and how God equips us for the freedom that He promises. If that sounds like something you need to hear, join us for this study!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

Join us for this special hour-long service on March 29th at 7:00. There will be scripture reading, song, and communion. It’s a powerful and moving time that will help prepare your heart for Easter. HopeKids! Programs will be available for infants through preschool.

EASTER SUNDAY: Service Time Reminder
We’re gearing up for our biggest Sunday of the year! With that in mind, we are planning three identical services for Easter Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, & 11:00. We’ll have donuts & hot coffee, a photo opportunity, and HopeKids! Programs at all three services.

All women post-high school are invited to join us on Monday, April 1st at 6:30 for fellowship, bible study, and prayer. This Monday we’ll be focusing on the word “Courage.” Come out a hear what God wants to share with you about this word! Any questions, contact Mary LeBeau.

Are you new to Hope in 2024? Our staff and elder team would love to get to know you and your family more! Join us Sunday, April 7th between services in the Flex Room (formerly GoZone 2) for coffee and a sweet treat. This event is open house style, so feel free to pop-in anytime between 9:45-10:45! We look forward to seeing you!

We want to ask our Hopers to continue to partner in prayer with us as we search for the right person to fill our Assistant Pastor role, as well as our Sound Engineer spot. We trust that God will bring along the exact right person at the exact right time for each job, and we thank you for coming alongside of us to pray for those positions!

CAKE, COFFEE, & CANDLES: Last chance to register!
Hey Ladies! You’re invited to a “Cake, Coffee, and Candles” event on Friday, April 19th at 7:00pm. Fellow Hoper, Lesley Russell, (whose company, “Simply Nestled” features 100% non-toxic soy candles) will be teaching us how to make a candle of our own! Plus we’ll have cake, cookies, and hot drinks to enjoy while we craft. The cost for this evening of fun is $20 and you’ll need to register using the form on this page by Friday, March 29th to save your seat. We want to include as many as possible, but space for this will be limited so that Lesley can plan for supplies and set up. Remember our Women’s Events are open to anyone post-high school and up – contact Dana Ott with any questions or for more information!

Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 6:30
The Young Adults ministry at Hope is a group of post-high school through their twenties adults truly seeking to explore life, engage culture, and empower change while remaining ground in the Word of God. During our current series, “Dinner With Jesus,” we meet for dinner and then have bible study, so be sure to come with an appetite! Any questions, contact Brian & Wendy Ball at briwensean@aol.com

Please note – there will be no Youth Group on Easter Sunday
All teens 6th-12th grades are invited to join us on Sunday evenings from 6:00-8:00p for fellowship, fun, and study! Any questions? Contact Youth Director, Dan Lein

CURRENT SERIES: Owning Your Faith
In a contentious age of conflicting opinions and snappy arguments it can be difficult to know what you believe, but as you grow and enter adulthood it becomes more and more evident that, whether it is strong or not, your faith is your own, and no one else’s. In this series Hope Youth will look throughout the narrative of the Bible and see how God’s people have owned their faith throughout history and what exactly they had faith in. Through this teens will see and learn the power of ownership, in their work, relationships, and faith.

MOVIE MATINEE: April 3rd at Noon
We know finding activities on Spring break can be tough. With all that free time it seems a waste to use it staring at tiny screens all day. Why not gather together with your youth group friends and watch something on the big screen?! Join us for popcorn, candy, soda, and of course a movie on the big screen here at church! Admission is free and students can bring as many friends as they like! “What are we watching?”, I hear you ask. Well grab your teen and click the link below because that’s the question we’re asking you! We got four great PG films on offer and we need your help deciding what to show! Make your choice and we will see you on April 3rd: Hope Youth Movie Matinee Poll

Join Hope Youth from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, April 5th as we “Jump Into Spring” with our annual Launch Trampoline Event! Admission to the event is only $15, so bring a friend and invite them to the fun! Located at 1500 Almonesson Rd, Launch has trampoline basketball, balance beam foam pits, and of course dozens of trampolines! Don’t miss out on this awesome event, make sure to sign-up here to attend.

Parents, stay up to date with everything happening on our calendar here!

Stay in the loop for all of the most important notifications! Text “”hopeyouth” to (856) 420-6078 to start receiving updates this week!

We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly, enthusiastic, background-checked team members to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children from infants through Pre-K, who are full of wonder about who God is!  K-5th graders gather in the GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever.

HOPEKIDS! HANGOUT: Sundays from 6:00-8:00p
Please note – there will be no HKH on Easter Sunday

Come to HopeKids! Hangout for games, snacks, and Bible study! We’re digging deep into the Bible with our new series, “The Heart of God.” Each week we will be reading different passages from Scripture on a quest to learn more about the character and nature of our Creator, and reinforcing those lessons with activities and games to go along with it. If you have a K-5th grader in your sphere of influence, draw them nearer to God by sending them to HopeKids! Hangout!

Each week we will be looking back at our Bible story from Sunday morning in a new way and doing fresh activities to reinforce our monthly theme. Plus, we’ll be storing God’s Word in our hearts by learning and practicing a new Bible verse every week—so you won’t want your kids to miss a single Wednesday!

The Nursery team is excited to love on your little ones (0-2), while our Preschool (3-5) team dives into an Alphabet Scripture Memory study! Every week they will learn a new Bible Verse, and each week they return with their verse memorized, they’ll earn a letter to attach to their Scripture Sash! Your kids will want to join us every Wednesday night to plant God’s Word in their hearts, earn all of their letters, have fun building a foundation of faith, and even have a chance to connect with our GoZone kids every week!
