Hope Notes 03/13/2024

March 13, 2024
Hello Hoper,
The Oxford dictionary describes significance as the quality of being worthy of attention; importance. As you might expect, insignificance is defined as the quality of being too small or unimportant to be worth consideration. No one wants to feel insignificant. People will search for significance in a number of ways. It might be through attaining a prestigious position in their career, gaining wealth and status through material riches, or maybe just a series of ‘important’ letters after their name showing just how well educated they are. For Believers, it should be noted that It’s not what you do or what you have that builds a life of significance; it’s Who you serve. James 4:10 in the Amplified Bible says: Humble yourselves [feeling very insignificant] in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you [He will lift you up and make your lives significant].” I am humbled by my insignificance which through Him has been made significant. Significant insignificance. Say that three times fast! He puts us IN CHRIST. “So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith…” (Galatians 3:26) He makes every believer a vital member of Christ’s body. God gives believers spiritual gifts and opportunities to use those gifts. “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace” (1Peter 4:10). God wants us use these gifts to help others and glorify Jesus Christ, not ourselves. In this way every believer is significant because they become part of God’s great eternal plan. Catch that? We are part of God’s eternal plan! You can’t get much more significant than that. He placed us in Christ and He put His Holy Spirit inside of us. That is our significance. That is our eternal worth that we can never lose. Let us not make the mistake of searching for external things to make us feel significant, rather let us remember that we are children of the King, given gifts and talents to use for His Kingdom.  Let the Almighty Father lift us up and ‘make our lives significant’!
In Him I find my worth…..and my significance! ~ Lois

An Unveiled View (2 Cor. 3:12-18)

If you wear glasses – even sunglasses – you may notice from time to time that you can’t see as well as you need to because the lenses have become dirty. It is ironic that something that is specifically supposed to help improve your vision can become the very reason that your vision is diminished. Paul talks about the same idea spiritually as he continues to compare the New Covenant with the Old. In this passage, he uses the picture of the veil that Moses wore over his glowing face after Mt. Sinai to say that the Israelites didn’t see God clearly in the Mosaic Covenant because what was supposed to help them see became a barrier for them to see God clearly. Now, as believers, we have the veil removed. That means we can live like we see and be transformed as children of God.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDIES: New classes start in April!
Join us at 6:30 for hot coffee and a sweet treat before heading into our studies at 7:00. We’ll have HopeKids programs for all ages, as well as a study for Hope Youth, and several adult classes rolling out over the coming weeks:

  • THE LIFE YOU LONG FOR: Led by Dana Ott beginning 4/10 This 4-week study teaches women how to fully step into the life you didn’t even realize you’ve been seeking. In our desire to please God, we often make the mistake of finding our worth in what we do instead of the identity we’ve been given – this series challenges us to live from the quiet center of God’s love rather than the busy treadmill we can easily find ourselves on. These are the lessons we worked through at our Women’s Retreat last October, so if you missed that or want a refresher, be sure to sign up so we can have a workbook prepared for you!
  • HIGH ANXIETY: Led by Pastor Ryan begins 4/10 If you are struggling with anxiety, there is help, but it takes work, time, courage, and patience. In this study, we will address the reality of anxiety as well as the tools that God gives us for conquering that anxiety. We’ll discuss how the enemy uses anxiety to keep us restrained, and how God equips us for the freedom that He promises. If that sounds like something you need to hear, join us for this study!

Join us for this special Wednesday night! We’ll have hot, fresh popcorn plus other yummy snacks while we gather together to watch an episode of “The Chosen!” We’ll be watching “I Am He,” about the Woman at the Well. It’s a great episode on its own, so even if you’ve never watched any of the series, you’ll still enjoy! And like our normal Wednesday nights, there will still be HopeKids! programs for all ages!

BAPTISM SERVICE: March 20th at 7:00
You do not want to miss this special service. Come show your fellow Hopers support as they give public testimony about God’s work in their lives. You’ll be encouraged (and moved to tears!) when you hear the amazing, transformative stories that get shared. This service is powerful like no other, so make it a top priority in your week! HopeKids! programs will be available for infants through preschoolers!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

COFFEE MINISTRY: Meeting tonight!
Are you looking for a way to get connected by serving? How about jumping in on our Sunday morning coffee team? We’ve been growing these past few months and would like to offer coffee throughout the entirety of both services! We’re looking for 4-6 folks who might want to help out with our second service. All our teams work on a rotation and we’ll get you fully trained – it’s a super simple way to serve, but is a vital part of creating a ‘warm welcome’ here at Hope. If you have any interest in serving on this team, we’ll be meeting tonight at 5:30 in the kitchen. Contact Dana Ott with any questions!

CHOICES OF THE HEART: Bottles due back Sunday!
We’ve been collecting change all month for Choices of the Heart. All bottles can be returned to the back table this Sunday, March 17th. For more information, or more ways to get involved with Choices of the Heart, please visit their website, www.choicesoftheheart.com. Any questions please contact Stacy Reid, sreid0905@gmail.com.

WONDERMOMS: This Thursday!
All moms of preschoolers (0-5) are invited to join us on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10:30-noon for fellowship, study, and hot coffee & snacks! There is childcare provided, so come have a time of rest and recharge with other moms and sisters in Christ! We are currently reading “Risen Motherhood,” but you can hop in at anytime! For all the details, check out our Facebook group.

WOMEN OF HOPE: Monday, March 18th at 6:30
All women post high school are invited to join us for study, fellowship, and prayer. We are continuing our series, “Say The Word,” and this week we’ll talk about humility. We’re taught that we are to humble ourselves before the Lord. But what does that really mean? There’s a difference between being a humble servant of God, and being the world’s doormat. We will be looking at Biblical examples of true humility. Bring your bible and a friend! Contact Mary LeBeau with any questions.

EASTER SUNDAY: Share the news!
We’re gearing up for our biggest Sunday of the year! With that in mind, we are planning three identical services for Easter Sunday at 8:00, 9:30, & 11:00. We’ll have donuts & hot coffee, a photo opportunity, and HopeKids! Programs at all three services. Start inviting family & friends using our social media posts, or grab a flyer the next time you’re at church!

CAKE, COFFEE, & CANDLES: Register by March 29th!
Hey Ladies! You’re invited to a “Cake, Coffee, and Candles” event on Friday, April 19th at 7:00pm. Fellow Hoper, Lesley Russell, (whose company, “Simply Nestled” features 100% non-toxic soy candles) will be teaching us how to make a candle of our own! Plus we’ll have cake, cookies, and hot drinks to enjoy while we craft. The cost for this evening of fun is $20 and you’ll need to register using the form on this page by March 29th to save your seat. If paying by cash or check, make sure to put your name, make checks payable to Hope, and indicate “Candle Event” before placing in the offering bin. We want to include as many as possible, but space for this will be limited so that Lesley can plan for supplies and set up. Remember our Women’s Events are open to anyone post-high school and up – contact Dana Ott with any questions or for more information!

Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 6:30
The Young Adults ministry at Hope is a group of post-high school through their twenties adults truly seeking to explore life, engage culture, and empower change while remaining ground in the Word of God. During our current series, “Dinner With Jesus,” we meet for dinner and then have bible study, so be sure to come with an appetite! Any questions, contact Brian & Wendy Ball at briwensean@aol.com

All teens 6th-12th grades are invited to join us on Sunday evenings from 6:00-8:00p for fellowship, fun, and study! Any questions? Contact Youth Director, Dan Lein

CURRENT SERIES: Owning Your Faith
In a contentious age of conflicting opinions and snappy arguments it can be difficult to know what you believe, but as you grow and enter adulthood it becomes more and more evident that, whether it is strong or not, your faith is your own, and no one else’s. In this series Hope Youth will look throughout the narrative of the Bible and see how God’s people have owned their faith throughout history and what exactly they had faith in. Through this teens will see and learn the power of ownership, in their work, relationships, and faith.

For the month of March we’ll be taking a break from our study in Psalms to participate in some church-wide Wednesday Night events! Join us on March 13th for a screening of “The Chosen.” Then on March 20th we’ll attend our Baptism service. Any questions, reach out to Pastor Dan!

Join Hope Youth from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday, April 5th as we “Jump Into Spring” with our annual Launch Trampoline Event! Admission to the event is only $15, so bring a friend and invite them to the fun! Located at 1500 Almonesson Rd, Launch has trampoline basketball, balance beam foam pits, and of course dozens of trampolines! Don’t miss out on this awesome event, make sure to sign-up here to attend.

Parents, stay up to date with everything happening on our calendar here!

Stay in the loop for all of the most important notifications! Text “”hopeyouth” to (856) 420-6078 to start receiving updates this week!

Easter Jam is an eggscellent event for all of our HopeKids! (infants through 5th grade!) WonderZone & GoZone kids (and their grown-ups) are invited to attend on March 23rd, from 10:00-noon to hear the good news of Easter, do an outdoor egg hunt, and enjoy a variety of other exciting Easter activities! Sign up each child here, and join us in celebrating the greatest event in history—Christ’s resurrection!

We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly, enthusiastic, background-checked team members to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children from infants through Pre-K, who are full of wonder about who God is!  K-5th graders gather in the GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever.

HOPEKIDS! HANGOUT: Sundays from 6:00-8:00p
Come to HopeKids! Hangout for games, snacks, and Bible study! We’re digging deep into the Bible with our new series, “The Heart of God.” Each week we will be reading different passages from Scripture on a quest to learn more about the character and nature of our Creator, and reinforcing those lessons with activities and games to go along with it. If you have a K-5th grader in your sphere of influence, draw them nearer to God by sending them to HopeKids! Hangout!

Each week we will be looking back at our Bible story from Sunday morning in a new way and doing fresh activities to reinforce our monthly theme. Plus, we’ll be storing God’s Word in our hearts by learning and practicing a new Bible verse every week—so you won’t want your kids to miss a single Wednesday!

The Nursery team is excited to love on your little ones (0-2), while our Preschool (3-5) team dives into an Alphabet Scripture Memory study! Every week they will learn a new Bible Verse, and each week they return with their verse memorized, they’ll earn a letter to attach to their Scripture Sash! Your kids will want to join us every Wednesday night to plant God’s Word in their hearts, earn all of their letters, have fun building a foundation of faith, and even have a chance to connect with our GoZone kids every week!
