Hope Notes 11/29/23

November 29, 2023
Hello Hoper,
Thanksgiving leftovers are a tasty treat!  I know not everyone would agree but I think there’s nothing better than a cold turkey sandwich comprised of stuffing, cranberry sauce and lettuce.  Where do you stand on leftovers?  Some people like them because they are a guarantee of an easy second meal with little to no cooking, a tasty lunch, or even the challenge of creating something new out of them. Others think they are boring or a downgrade in taste and have no desire to partake in them whatsoever.
We can have leftovers of more than just food.  I’m thinking about our time, money, talents and even our love.  What we do with them is often an indicator of whether they are being used or given as a first or as a leftover, so to speak.  We want to be sure we aren’t giving God what’s leftover; we ought to be handing Him our first and our best. “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the best part of everything you produce.” (Proverbs 3:9 NLT) He is the Lord our God and even our very best pales in comparison to what He has for us. “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” (Psalm 126:3) Focus on God and give your best to Him wherever and whatever you are. Use the gifts God has given you to serve Him at your best. Use the opportunities and resources He has allowed you to have to give Him your best. If we do, we will never be disappointed.
He deserves our best!

Worship Morning | Communion
Join us as we kick off December by pouring out hearts out in worship. These opportunities are precious to us because we get to worship together as a church family for the whole morning. Come ready to celebrate and to invite God’s work in our lives. Don’t be surprised if something tries to get in the way of you showing up because our enemy knows the kind of power that fills our hearts and lives when we give our full focus to worshipping together!WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDIES:
On hiatus until the new year!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

What’s better than a hot coffee, warm cup of cocoa, holiday treats, and live music? We can’t think of a better way to finish out the month of giving thanks and gear up toward the season of celebration! Come on out and enjoy our first ever “Coffee House” right here at Hope on Wednesday, November 29th at 7:00 – 8:00pm. The evening will be filled with the sounds of the season – select live performances by some of the musicians here at Hope – and refreshments for the whole family. There is no childcare provided, but the nurseries will be open for anyone who needs to use them.BIBLE READING PLANS: Out now!
We know that one of the best ways to deepen our faith and accelerate our relationship with God is by reading His word! Bible study is an important value to us, so we’re providing you with a few resources as you head into the new year! Check out one of our bible reading plans in the lobby. We have a bible in a year plan, plus two curated plans put together by Pastor Mark available on bookmarks. Or download a plan here!

CHRISTMAS EVE: WonderZone Help Needed
This is one of our most special services of the year as we unfold the story of our Savior’s birth and all it means to us.  We’re excited to offer nurseries for our infants and a classroom for our preschoolers so they too can hear the incredible story of Jesus’ birth! Join us in serving His precious children by volunteering to serve in a nursery or preschool room during one of these invaluable services! We have two services that evening (4pm and 5:30pm) which means you can serve at one and attend the other without missing the chance to experience the full service. If you are available and want to be a part of serving His Kingdom in this way with our little ones, please contact Kara May at karamay@hopechristianfellowship.org.

This year for the Christmas season Hope Youth will be exploring all the ways that God enters the lives of his people through a new series called Emmanuel! In it we will take a look at stories in both the old and new testaments where God dives head first into the lives of his people culminating when he entered creation itself as a baby! Whether he enters the messes, joys, or every day lives of his people the Bible shows that God is invested and present. Join us and we learn the true meaning of Christmas, God With Us, starting 11/26/23.
