Hope Notes 11/22/23

November 22, 2023
Hello Hoper,
This past Sunday was our praise service. It’s always encouraging to hear the things God is doing in our people’s lives, isn’t it?  Because sometimes it might feel like He is silent. You don’t see anything changing. You can’t imagine that things will work out. So I’d like to tell you a little behind-the-scenes tale some 20 years in the making about how God is always at work behind the scenes in our lives even on we can’t see it or feel it. “Clearly, you are a God who works behind the scenes, God of Israel, Savior God.” (Isaiah 45:15 MSG)
Over 20 years ago, my daughter began babysitting some children whose father just might have started Hope Christian fellowship (wink). Over time, the relationship between her and the girls went from babysitter to fun companion to friend to ‘family’. For many years they dreamed about working together at church and one day becoming moms together. They even formed a Future Mother’s Club documented by a photo every Mother’s Day. Fast forward to present day. Not only do all three of them work here at Hope, they all did in fact become mothers and their children now attend church together and play together. That’s something only God could orchestrate!
God is in the business of working things out for our good to accomplish His purpose and plan for our lives. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28) It might take a long time, even 20 some years, but you can trust that He is always at work weaving together His beautiful plan for your life.
Our God does marvelous and wonderful things….LoisSPIRITUAL CARE

His Name Is Jesus
(Luke 2:7; Matt. 1:18-21; John 1:29; Phil. 2:9-11)

Parents generally take naming their baby very seriously. While there are different reasons for everyone, most people put a lot of weight on ‘liking’ the name. Some options are eliminated because a person with ‘that name’ has a painful or bad history with one or both of the parents. Other options are eliminated because of personal taste (i.e. not liking how the name sounds or fits with the family name). Back in the world into which Jesus was born, names carried significance because of their meaning. We’re starting our Christmas series by looking at the personal name of our Savior, “Jesus.” What does it mean and why does it matter? Let’s dig into a few things that the Bible has to tell us about this name.WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDIES:
On hiatus until the new year!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

All Hopers are welcome, and all partners are especially encouraged, to attend our annual business meeting, happening this Sunday following the second service. Come hear about what we have planned for 2024 and vote on the proposed budget. Ballots will also be available that morning for those unable to stay and vote at the meeting.HOLIDAY COFFEE HOUSE: Next Wednesday!
What’s better than a hot coffee, warm cup of cocoa, holiday treats, and live music? We can’t think of a better way to finish out the month of giving thanks and gear up toward the season of celebration! Come on out and enjoy our first ever “Coffee House” right here at Hope on Wednesday, November 29th at 7:00 – 8:00pm. The evening will be filled with the sounds of the season – select live performances by some of the musicians here at Hope – and refreshments for the whole family. There is no childcare provided, but the nurseries will be open for anyone who needs to use them.

We’re so excited for Christmas and the opportunity for our ladies to get together for some holiday games, fun, food, and friendship! CHRISTMAS EVE: WonderZone Help Needed
This is one of our most special services of the year as we unfold the story of our Savior’s birth and all it means to us.  We’re excited to offer nurseries for our infants and a classroom for our preschoolers so they too can hear the incredible story of Jesus’ birth! Join us in serving His precious children by volunteering to serve in a nursery or preschool room during one of these invaluable services! We have two services that evening (4pm and 5:30pm) which means you can serve at one and attend the other without missing the chance to experience the full service. If you are available and want to be a part of serving His Kingdom in this way with our little ones, please contact Kara May at karamay@hopechristianfellowship.org.
