Hope Notes 11/15/23

November 15, 2023
Hello Hoper,
In case you are feeling overwhelmed by life or discouraged by your circumstances, I would like to remind you of something. However big you think our God is, He is BIGGER. There is nothing He can’t do, no circumstance He can’t overcome, no situation He cannot insert Himself into on your behalf.  Our God has split seas. “Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided.” (Exodus 14:21 ESV)  He has healed disease. “He is the one who forgives all your sins, the one who heals all your diseases.” (Psalm 103:3 GWT)  He has overcome death. “I am the living one. I died, but look—I am alive forever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and the grave.” (Revelation 1:18)  “I know you are looking for Jesus. Then the angel said, He is not here; for He is risen” (Matthew 28:6). The Bible clearly tells us that God is unchanging. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) Malachi 3:6 says, “I am the Lord, and I do not change…”  That means that the same God who did these things in the past is the same God who is doing them today, and will continue to do them throughout the rest of our days into eternity. I cannot truly wrap my head around a God like that, but I am beyond thankful to know He is ours.
With a thankful heart…..LoisSPIRITUAL CARE

Praise Service
Each year, the Sunday before Thanksgiving is a special service for us. We set aside this service to worship and praise our wonderful Savior. And then we give our church family an opportunity to give thanks. People will share what God has done or just give thanks. It is a service that is precious to our church family and we hope you will join us for all of it. Don’t miss one moment of this kickoff to our week of Thanksgiving!WEDNESDAY NIGHT BIBLE STUDIES:
On hiatus until the new year!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:40 in the GoZone!

Anyone can join us Sunday mornings at 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

We still have 80 boxes missing! Please bring back your completed boxes this Sunday — after that we will not be able to submit them. Thank you!SEEDS OF HOPE THANKSGIVING: Opportunity to Serve
Each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, SOH has the privilege of serving families who have an incarcerated loved one, and some local families in need, by providing them with all that they need to have a complete Thanksgiving dinner. You can be a part of providing over 100 families with a Thanksgiving meal. To find out how you can help, click here.

Our pantry shelves are looking a little bare! Help us stock them full before we head into the holiday season. We are currently looking for: cereal, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly. All donations can be placed in the kitchen.

SUNDAY NIGHT SERIES: How To Read The Bible for Dummies
How do you even use the Bible? It’s big, it looks weird, and it’s written by folks who are long dead and lived far away. How can this be useful in your day to day life, let alone the guiding light? These and many other questions are precisely what our new series seeks to address! By learning reading techniques, basics of interpretation, and helpful habits the Bible will go from a dusty book on your shelf to a vital part of your daily life.

Parents, stay up to date with everything happening on our calendar here!

We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly, enthusiastic, background-checked team members to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children from infants through Pre-K, who are full of wonder about who God is!  K-5th graders gather in the GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever.

HopeKids! Hangout is back for all kids in K-5th grades, and we’re starting a new series called Jesus Lives, Follow Him Boldly. This fall we will be talking about why we put our faith in a LIVING savior, and what living out that faith means for anyone who believes, no matter how young or old. Join us for those conversations + exciting games, fun activities, and, of course, snacks! Hope to see you there from 6:00-8:00 on Sunday evenings!

None of our HopeKids! will want to miss our Wednesday night programs this Fall! We’ll be digging into Bible stories about harmony and integrity, looking at different verses of the Bible each week, and pairing our elementary and pre-K kids together to enrich the experience through crafts, games, and partnership. You don’t want your kids to miss out on these fun-filled nights; engaging their faith and learning more from God’s Word!
