Hope Notes 03/02/2022

March 2, 2022

Hello Hoper ~
Who doesn’t love a good bargain? Of course we want to get the best deal we can.  Make our dollars stretch as far as possible.  I like to think it’s simply being a good steward of what God has given us.  How about a rebate?  That’s like the icing on the cake of bargains!  When my daughter or I get a really good deal on something, we love to call each other and go over just exactly what the original cost was and what we actually paid.  We do this with great glee at our successful shopping skills. Bargain bragging, if you will.
Did you know that God has a rebate program for us as well?  “And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.” (Matthew 19:29 NLT)  I know I’ve never received one hundred times the value of anything!  Sounds like a pretty good incentive to follow Jesus, doesn’t it?  (I’m being facetious, of course; there are many reasons why it ‘pays’ to follow Jesus!)  Our God takes care of His children. We truly do not need to worry about our needs being met.  “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)  I’m sure it pains the heart of God when we fret and worry about things like food, clothing, and shelter.  Matthew 6 is a great chapter about worry! “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33
The best ‘bargain’ I ever received was when I decided to turn my life over to Jesus.  He gives me so much more than I could ever have imagined.  I guess I was wrong when I said I’d never received one hundred times the value of anything before.  With my life in His hands, I cannot even begin to calculate the worth of the gift I’ve been given.
On the hunt for God’s rebates – Lois

SPIRITUAL CARE  SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE:
“But God Meant It For Good”
Genesis 50:20 | Jim Jefferson

I keep hearing the phrase “we are living through unprecedented times” more and more throughout the last couple of years. The 24 hour news cycle continues to bombard us with story after story outlining present and future danger.  Now more than ever, it’s good to be reminded of the sovereignty of God. Through taking a look at the life of Joseph, let’s look how God walks with us through being on the wrong side of a turbulent word, people’s intent to do harm, and the fallout of both.

PRAYER HUDDLE:
If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:15 in GoZone 2.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER:
Join us Sunday mornings at 8:00 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.

BIBLE STUDY: Wednesdays at 7:00
Do I Have To Live Stressed Out?

You may know someone who lives stressed out, and there’s a pretty good possibility that person is you. Explore with us whether or not we are doomed to live forever overwhelmed by stress.  Does being a Christian have any impact on how we walk in stressful situations?  Can we discover truths in Scripture that help us see clearly on what a faith approach means to the uncertainties and pressures of life?  We’ll look at some of God’s promises and explore ten lies that trip us up and cause us to get lost in stress. Join us in person or via livestream.

HOPE KIDS
SUNDAY MORNING PROGRAMS:
We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both the 8:30 & 10 services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly and enthusiastic teachers and helpers who are background checked to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children, who are full of wonder about who God is! We have an infant room, one-year-old room, toddler classroom, and a pre-K classroom in order to serve each child with an age-appropriate curriculum. K-5th graders gather in the youth room for our opening service called The GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever through worship, games and an interactive lesson through teaching and videos. The K-5th graders are then split up into age appropriate small groups to dive deeper into the lesson where they can share their own experiences and ask any questions they may have.

WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS:
Beginning January 5th at 7:00 we will be offering programs for all children ages 0-5th grade. We hope this frees parents up to come out to Wednesday Night Bible Study! Plus, we love the opportunity to have another chance in the week to engage with our Hope kids and teach them about Jesus.
