Hope Notes 02/23/2022

February 23, 2022

Hello Hoper ~
How many times do we have to wait for something ‘until tomorrow’?  It could be waiting for something exciting that’s going to happen, or maybe waiting for something difficult to pass. When our daughter was little and having a difficult time, I would often tell her that things would look better in the morning. And you know what? They usually did!  My dear friend coined a phrase that I still repeat some 60 years later. After being told about something fun that was going to happen tomorrow she would repeatedly ask her mother, “Is today tomorrow?”  Her little girl excitement just could not wait!
God has given us yesterday, today, and possibly tomorrow. We are not promised tomorrow.  “You do not even know what will happen tomorrow! What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.” (James 4:14)  Every day is a gift from God. We cannot purchase an additional day to live.  This simply means that if you’re alive and reading this, God has decided to give you this day. That’s often my reflection in my morning prayers – ‘Thank you God for this day.  It belongs to You.  You gave it to me.  Help me to use it wisely and for Your glory’.  I’m sure you’ve heard that saying, “Today is a gift from God; that’s why it’s called the present.”  It might sound like a cheesy inspirational poster, but it’s absolutely true!  Not only does He alone hold the power to grant us another day to live and breathe, He gives us the opportunity to start fresh every single morning!  “Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
Let’s not waste this beautiful gift of the present, wishing it away for the future, or lamenting over the past.  Let’s show God our gratitude by using it for His glory and fully showing our love for Him.
Thankful for each and every day – Lois

Who Am I? | Youth Sunday
(Luke 19:1-10, Galatians 3:6-7, 2 Peter 1:3-4, Psalm 139:13-14)

This Sunday Pastor Dan and our teens will explore this tough question and give a roadmap to finding an answer that is life giving and fulfilling, whether you’re a teen asking it for the first time, or an adult who has grown unsatisfied with their answer.

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:15 in GoZone 2.

Join us Sunday mornings at 8:00 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

Ecclesiastes 5:1-2
Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. Go near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools, who do not know that they do wrong. Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few.
Year 1: John
Year 2: Acts
Psalms 18-29

BIBLE STUDY: Wednesdays at 7:00
Do I Have To Live Stressed Out?

You may know someone who lives stressed out, and there’s a pretty good possibility that person is you. Explore with us whether or not we are doomed to live forever overwhelmed by stress.  Does being a Christian have any impact on how we walk in stressful situations?  Can we discover truths in Scripture that help us see clearly on what a faith approach means to the uncertainties and pressures of life?  We’ll look at some of God’s promises and explore ten lies that trip us up and cause us to get lost in stress. Join us in person or via livestream.

We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both the 8:30 & 10 services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly and enthusiastic teachers and helpers who are background checked to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children, who are full of wonder about who God is! We have an infant room, one-year-old room, toddler classroom, and a pre-K classroom in order to serve each child with an age-appropriate curriculum. K-5th graders gather in the youth room for our opening service called The GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever through worship, games and an interactive lesson through teaching and videos. The K-5th graders are then split up into age appropriate small groups to dive deeper into the lesson where they can share their own experiences and ask any questions they may have.

Beginning January 5th at 7:00 we will be offering programs for all children ages 0-5th grade. We hope this frees parents up to come out to Wednesday Night Bible Study! Plus, we love the opportunity to have another chance in the week to engage with our Hope kids and teach them about Jesus.
