Hope Notes 01/26/2022

January 26, 2022

Hello Hoper ~
Are you in a season of waiting?  I feel like most of us are usually waiting for something! It might be something small like waiting for the water to boil or for the traffic light to change.  It could be something soul crushing like desperately praying for healing from a disease or for a relationship to be repaired.  Or anything in between.  There’s always something we must wait for. Every bit of waiting is an opportunity from our Lord to exercise our patience muscles (especially with those small things) and to practice trusting Him with those big things.  In the first two verses of Psalm 13, David asks the Lord, ‘How long?’  But by the end in verses fiveand six, David says he will ‘trust, rejoice, and sing for the Lord has been good’ to him.  This is a great model for us.  There is nothing wrong with crying out to God when the waiting seems impossible.  The key is recognizing our need to trust in Him and declaring in faith that we will do just that, along with rejoicing and singing as we wait.  A good encouragement can be found in Lamentations 3:25.  “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”
Chances are you have something now that you were once waiting for. Remember to thank God for that and let it serve as a reminder that God is faithful. This is where keeping a prayer journal comes in handy! It’s so easy to forget what God has done for us in the past.  I saw something that said, “I still remember praying for the things I have now”.  What a blessing that is!  My own list could go on and on.  Take some time to think about YOUR list.  Start writing them down; it’s so helpful to reflect back on those things when we are feeling discouraged and tired of waiting. I know it can be easy to watch other people who have what we want and start comparing.  But I promise you – they have their struggles, and most likely are waiting for something too. What can we do as we wait?  We can serve Jesus through serving others. We can be a beacon of light in a dark world.  We can worship Him.  And yes, we can rejoice, for we know that He is good.
In closing I would remind you that ultimately, all of us are waiting for the same thing.  Heaven.  Jesus’ return.  Meanwhile, the next time we are waiting for something simple like the traffic light to change, take that time and thank God for every other wait that has ended in His perfect timing.

Korah’s Rebellion: Stopping the Plague | Communion
(Numbers 17)
Does it feel like you can never figure out what God wants you to do? Many times, it seems like God is playing hide and seek with us as we search for His will. But is that actually the truth? We’ll see in this story from Israel that God desires to make His direction for us clear and memorable. And He is the One responsible for making it so. Our problem is not so much that God doesn’t show us as it is that we don’t want to listen or respond.  After the events surrounding Korah’s rebellion, God takes a moment to do something that lives on long after this moment. His symbols are powerful reminders that God wants us to know and remember His instruction.  We are invited to follow by faith!

If you’re volunteering on a Sunday morning, whether its greeting, HopeKids!, in the sound booth, etc., please join us for a team prayer huddle! We want to gather together everyone who is serving that morning to pray for the services. Meet at 8:15 in GoZone 2.

Join us Sunday mornings at 8:00 in Pastor Mark’s office to pray for that morning’s services. Contact Bob Baumiester for more information (rbaumiester@gmail.com).

Philippians 4:6-7
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

BIBLE STUDY: Wednesdays at 7:00
Do I Have To Live Stressed Out?

You may know someone who lives stressed out, and there’s a pretty good possibility that person is you. Explore with us whether or not we are doomed to live forever overwhelmed by stress.  Does being a Christian have any impact on how we walk in stressful situations?  Can we discover truths in Scripture that help us see clearly on what a faith approach means to the uncertainties and pressures of life?  We’ll look at some of God’s promises and explore ten lies that trip us up and cause us to get lost in stress. Join us in person or via livestream.

  • March 16th – Café

  • March 30th – Baptism

Meets 1st & 3rd Tuesdays at 7:30

The Bible has been the main text for Christians since its inception. But that was almost over 1,500 years ago. Is the Bible still relevant to our modern world? How should we read it? What are the assumptions we, knowingly or unknowingly, bring to the text? We’ll look at these questions and more over our next few meetings starting in January. Contact Pastor Dave with any questions: dave@hopechristianfellowship.org
YOUTH GROUP: Sunday Nights 6-8:00pm
Students ages 6th-12th grade are invited to join us on Sunday nights for a time of fellowship, fun, and study! Contact Pastor Dan with any questions: danlein@hopechristianfellowship.org
“More than Just a Daughter” Series
In our new series we will see the story of the Bible through the eyes of women of faith, exploring the narrative as well as the themes that lead us from the days of the covenant with Abraham all the way to the resurrection of Jesus. Meanwhile we will explore how God has pursued, included, and equipped the historically downtrodden, and the hope such a love brings to all of us today.

SUNDAY MORNING: Grow Groups coming soon!
Grow Groups is back at Hope starting Sunday February 6th! For six weeks Pastor Dan and Mike Gross will lead 6th grade students in making the transition from the Go Zone service to the adult service. They will be covering the basics of a Sunday morning, why we do them, and teach the students how they can take part and own their experience! We hope to see you then in Go Zone 2 during the first service after worship!

Join Hope Youth on Wednesday nights at 7:00 as we Actually get to know Jesus. By learning and practicing habits every week we will be growing our relationship with Jesus and gaining tools to use at home day by day. This study is open to all teens ages 6th grade and up. Any questions contact Pastor Dan at danlein@hopechristianfellowship.org

Parents, stay up to date with everything happening by adding the Hope Youth Google calendar to your own! Click here to view

As part of a broader effort to streamline social media and communication for our ministries at Hope, our HopeKids social media pages are going to be making some changes for the new year! We will be phasing out the WonderZone Facebook group and the GoZone Facebook group, and you will be getting all HopeKids Facebook posts in one spot – the HopeKids Ministries page! In addition, we will be changing our HopeKids WonderZone Instagram to a HopeKids Ministries Instagram as well! Because of how Facebook works, you might get notifications about changes with the existing groups that you are a part of, or even that you’ve been removed from a group. Don’t worry, we still want you to follow us! Just make sure to like and follow the HopeKids Ministries page and you won’t miss any of the usual content, promise!

We offer childcare and classes from our littlest Hopers to our 5th graders every Sunday morning at both the 8:30 & 10 services. Each classroom is staffed with friendly and enthusiastic teachers and helpers who are background checked to ensure your child’s safety. Our WonderZone! serves our youngest children, who are full of wonder about who God is! We have an infant room, one-year-old room, toddler classroom, and a pre-K classroom in order to serve each child with an age-appropriate curriculum. K-5th graders gather in the youth room for our opening service called The GoZone! where we GO for God, GO for growth and GO forever through worship, games and an interactive lesson through teaching and videos. The K-5th graders are then split up into age appropriate small groups to dive deeper into the lesson where they can share their own experiences and ask any questions they may have.

Beginning January 5th at 7:00 we will be offering programs for all children ages 0-5th grade. We hope this frees parents up to come out to Wednesday Night Bible Study! Plus, we love the opportunity to have another chance in the week to engage with our Hope kids and teach them about Jesus.
