Hope Notes 03/17/2021

March 17, 2021

Hello Hoper!
A sad little memory popped up on my Facebook page reminding me that it was just one year ago that we had our last ‘normal’ service at Hope and Pastor Mark (and family) began scrambling to figure out what to do.  We had the very first Hope at Home service broadcast from their own living room.  We’ve come so far since then!  I’m thankful we have a pastor and church who do their best to follow guidelines yet provide what’s necessary to meet our spiritual needs – virtually or in person. Things are still not back to what we consider normal – at Hope or the world in general.  In light of that, rather than write my usual opening, I thought I’d share with you this list of Encouraging Predictions I came across.  With all the problems our world is facing, it can be very discouraging and unsettling for us. This list is a good encouragement that offers us godly hope and keeps our hearts pointed in the right direction.  Enjoy!

  1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
  2. Prayer will still be the most powerful thing on earth.
  3. The Holy Spirit willEaster still move.
  4. There will still be singing of praise to God.
  5. God will still honor the praises of His people.
  6. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.
  7. There will still be God anointed preaching.
  8. There will still be room at the Cross.
  9. Jesus will still love you.
  10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.

May this help us to remember Who is still on the Throne, in control, and able to calm any storm or situation that this world throws at us!
Sending God’s Love and Hope – Lois

SPIRITUAL CARE  SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE
Seeing God’s Work (Numbers 10:33-11:3)

Have you ever wondered why other people can give testimonies about seeing God’s work?  You listen to how clearly God showed His hand in their situation or their life and you wonder what’s different for you.  Maybe you’re just missing what God’s doing. Or maybe God just isn’t working in your life. Today we’re going to see how God used Moses to show His people His work.  There are different strategies here for different people and situations.  But in each one, we can learn how to teach ourselves to notice and hold onto God’s work in our lives.

VERSE OF THE MONTH:
Acts 4:19-20
“But Peter and John replied, Which is right in God’s eyes; to listen to you or to him? You be the judges! As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

PRAYER PROMPT:
Ask God to lay someone on your heart with whom you can share the way God has worked in your life.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
WELCOME SUPPORT STAFF MEMBER: Sawyer Weber
We’re excited to be able to add Sawyer to our support staff! He will be filling a much needed role as the head of our Production Team, with a focus on Sound. Sawyer has experience in production, sound mixing, and audio training as well as being a gifted musician himself! Please join us in welcoming him as he steps into this role and continue to pray with us that the Lord will use his gifts and abilities to further our mission for the kingdom of God!

SUNDAY Q&As: Starting April 11th!
Has a Sunday message ever left you with unanswered questions? It doesn’t have to anymore! For the three weeks after Easter we’ll be trying out an in-person Q&A session after the second service. You’ll be able to submit questions electronically at either of our two services and our pastoral staff will address them following the 10:00am service.  Join us in-person or check out the recorded Q&A on our YouTube and Podcast feeds.

HELP NEEDED: Green thumb wanted!
We are looking for someone to take the lead in gathering a team to maintain our flower bed in the front of the church.  The main task would be planting flowers, putting down mulch, and then maintaining it.  Contact Mike Hartwell for further details at  mhredeemed@gmail.com.

GWCM FOOD PANTRY DRIVE: Two weekends left!
Hope’s Missions Team will be collecting feminine hygiene products as well as infant & adult diapers for the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry during the month of March. To donate, please place items in the bins located by the front and back doors of the church. If you are interested in obtaining information on joining our Missions Team, please contact Stacy Reid, sreid0905@gmail.com.

ACTS: Zoom Conversation
Join us March 30th at 7:00 on Zoom as we take time to reflect on reading the book of Acts. Bring your questions, favorite thoughts, or things that encouraged you! Meeting ID: 830 8944 3049. Any questions see Pastor Dave!

EASTER WEEKEND
GOOD FRIDAY SERVICE: 4/2 at 6:00pm
We’re so excited to be having an in-person service this Good Friday! There will be song, scripture readings, and communion. All offerings collected that evening will go to our benevolent fund. Service will also be live-streamed for those who are unable to join.

EASTER SUNDAY: Three Services!
In addition to our regular Sunday morning worship times, we’ll also be having a third service at 11:30. We anticipate this third service will be our lightest, so if you haven’t been back to church since we re-opened, our hope is that you’ll feel comfortable to join us! We also want to celebrate Easter morning by offering donuts and coffee before each service. We can’t wait to be together as a church family after missing last year!

HOPEKIDS EASTER JAM:
All HopeKids (WonderZone & GoZone!) and their families are invited to attend our Easter Jam event! We’ll have games, songs, and an Easter egg hunt! Join us Saturday, April 3rd from 10:00am until noon. If you haven’t already signed-up at church, you can sign-up here!
YOUNG ADULTS
1st & 3rd TUESDAYS at 7:30pm
Finding Joy – Philippians (4/6)
The book of Philippians is perhaps the most positive letter Paul sent a church. In it we will find several things we can do to cement joy in our lives, even in the midst of difficult times.

HOPE YOUTH
YOUTH GROUP: Sundays at 6:00pm
For the month of March we’ll be focusing our study, Bible Basics, on Jesus. Join us as we take a look at the gospels and study the life of Christ as we head into Easter. Students from 6th to 12th grade are invited to join us for games, snacks, and the Word of God as we engage in fellowship and seek to grow in our relationship with our savior. If you have any questions, please contact our Youth Pastor, Daniel Lein, at danlein@hopechristianfellowship.org

JUMP-IN EVENT: Friday, 3/26 at 6:00pm
Hope Youth invites students and friends from 6th-12th grade for a night of food, fellowship, and jumping! Meet at the church at 6:00. From there, we’ll be heading out to the Deptford Launch Trampoline Park to play dodgeball, trampoline basketball, and duke it out over the battle pit! Afterwards, we will return back to church for pizza and games! Normally a ticket to the trampoline park would cost $30, but $10 will get you in with us! That being said, it’s more important that your child comes and builds bonds then us getting the $10. So pay what you can, and we will see you Friday March 26th!

We know you’ll happily join us in welcoming Ryan & his wife, Becky, to the Hope family! To contact him, email: ryanmoreno@hopechristianfellowship.org
