Hope Notes 11/18/2020

November 18, 2020

Dear Friends of Hope
I bet you didn’t know that the month of November marks the anniversary of one of those life altering decisions for our family.  We had come to a crossroads regarding our place of worship and knew the Lord was calling us elsewhere. “This is what the LORD says: “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.”  (Jeremiah 6:16)  We made the decision to leave the church we had attended for sixteen years and walked through the doors of Hope on November 2, 2014.   It was just a small congregation of about thirty people.  No pews.  No altar rail.  Was this even a CHURCH?!  We held hands as I cried my way through the entire worship set and knew we had found that ‘rest for our souls’ and our new church home.  I remember thinking what a wonderful church it was, but never dreamed that sixteen years later we would still be a part of this beautiful church family. It blows my mind that we have been at Hope now for as long as we were at our former church.  Where do the years go?!  Nor did I ever imagine all that the Lord would do in me and at Hope throughout those years!  I am guilty of putting my earthly, human limits on our almighty, heavenly Father.  “The LORD has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy.” (Psalm 126:3)  He truly does “more than we could ask or imagine” (Ephesians 3:20).  I always feel extra grateful during November as I remember those early days and the certainty that we had done exactly what the Lord had directed.  I’m not one for change, but taking that step of faith into the warm and welcoming arms of Hope was the best thing we ever could have done.  This church, our pastors, our leaders, the people………they all mean so much to me. Their impact on our lives reaches further and deeper than I can put into words. God has plans for us that go beyond our understanding; what we must do is trust Him. Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your path.” (Proverbs3:5-6)  I would encourage anyone out there who feels the Lord tugging on their heart and urging them to make some sort of change or to walk down a scary path to simply surrender to Him in faith and just do it.  “The Lord is for me, so I will have no fear.” (Psalm 118:6 NLT)
Go Where He Leads….
November 22 – Praise Service

At Hope, we love kicking off Thanksgiving week with our annual praise service.  We sing in worship like we normally do. But then we give our church family a chance to share their gratitude to the Lord for what He has done in their lives over the last year. This unscripted service offers you this opportunity as well. So let’s come to this time with grateful hearts and allow the Lord to move us in hearing from one another and sharing thanks together.

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship.”
We’ll be having our annual meeting to discuss and vote on the 2021 budget on Sunday, 12/27 after the second service. All Hopers are invited to attend, but we need partners for the vote. Copies of the budget will be available in the beginning of December. Please review and direct any questions to Pastor Mark, Damon Briggs, Mike Hartwell, Ryan Winstel, or Pastor Dave.
