Hope Notes 04/29/2020

April 29, 2020

Dear Friends of Hope ~   Hopers get ready because I am going to do what is declared in 1 Corinthians 1:31 – “Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”  I am so proud to be part of a church that bands together to show our pastor and his family just how much they mean to us.  As most of you know by now, on Saturday we had what I like to call a ‘Love Parade’ for Pastor Mark and Dana.  We had such a stream of cars filled with Hopers shouting and waving and honking!  It was truly a sight to see!  This church really knows how to “encourage one another and build each other up…” (1 Thessalonians 5:11) Thanks to Corona, Hebrews 10:25 has taken on a slightly different execution. Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more…..”  We may not be able to physically meet together, but we sure can show up and encourage one another in different ways; it doesn’t need to be a Love Parade!  We can send notes and cards, a text message, make a phone call or video chat.  Mark and Dana weren’t the only ones who enjoyed the drive by; every single Hoper who was there felt the joy of seeing their brothers and sisters in Christ (all at a safe distance, of course!).  It was so good for all of our souls.  Slightly bittersweet; seeing everyone along with Mark and Dana in person and not on a screen made me personally ache for real connection.  Not a ‘socially distant’ one.  But I’ll tell you what, it may have been an unconventional gathering, but we sure saw Matthew 18:20 in action!  “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”  God showed up in all those cars and right there on the Ott’s lawn!  During this most difficult of times, we give thanks for our pastors Mark, Dave, and Matt who are rising to the challenge and showing us examples of the words our Lord spoke in Jeremiah 3:15 – “Then I will give you shepherds after my own heart, who will lead you with knowledge and understanding.” Thank you for leading, guiding, and caring for the flock God has given you

How to Receive a Miracle (Exodus 11)
Our God is a God of miracles.  This powerful truth is every bit as real today as it ever has been.  Our God still saves, heals, provides, and does wonders among us!  But we can lose our faith in the waiting.  If that’s ever been you or is your experience right now, we’re going to look at the prelude to the payoff of all the plagues God has brought to Egypt.  He is about to deliver Israel miraculously. Before He does, however, He gives Moses instructions for His people.  We can learn much from these words on how to wait for a miracle and how to receive one!

“Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have because God has said, Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. So we say with confidence, The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”

Every Monday through Friday Pastor Mark & Dave will be publishing short devotional thoughts on our new podcast, Hope Daily. They are available for listening on our website, Spotify, and coming soon to Apple podcasts! Please note this is a separate account from our regular Hope Christian Fellowship podcast where you can find our normal Sunday sermons and Wednesday night bible studies.

Just because we can’t meet together in person, we can still ‘be together’ in our own homes as we tune in and listen to Pastor Mark!  We’ll be continuing on in our study of Ephesians.  Don’t miss this opportunity to stay connected and hear God’s Word.FELLOWSHIP
SMALL GROUPS  f your small group is still hoping to meet, we have some resources that may be of use to you!

Thanks to the generosity of our Hopers, we have a nice stash of food and supplies in our Food Pantry.  If you find yourself in need, or just can’t find an item you’ve been looking for, contact our Needs Team at needs@hopechristianfellowship.org and we will see if we can help!

Our live streams are now also available on our website.  Anyone can go to our website and watch our Sunday Services or any other live stream from our church by simply going to our website (www.hopechristianfellowhip.org) and clicking on ‘view live stream’.  This means we can share our church services to anyone – even people without Facebook or YouTube accounts.

GIVING TO HOPE While we are not meeting in person, you all have proven in many ways that church is still very much happening. Your response to donating for our food pantry and your commitment to connection have truly been a blessing.
As a church, we also continue to have bills to pay. So we ask that you be as faithful as you can be in giving to Hope. We have updated our online giving categories to better reflect where our money is going. These additions include our benevolent fund which is being used to help meet the tangible needs of our Hope family during this time.  If you are currently in need (food, financial, or otherwise) don’t hesitate to reach out to needs@hopechristianfellowship.org.
Listed below are some ways to give:
1.  ONLINE GIVING – Visit hopechristianfellowship.org and click ‘give online’.
2.  TEXT-TO-GIVE –    609-251-4223
3.  MAIL A CHECK –    246 King St. Woodbury, NJ  08096

Now more than ever it’s important that we are able to stay connected with each other.  We can have access to the entire church directory on our laptops or on our phones through the app.  We’re better able to connect if we are all participating in the directory.  To sign up, simply contact Emily at emilydilorenzo@hopechristianfellowship.org and she will get you set up!
