Hope Notes 04/17/2019

April 17, 2019

Dear Hope Friends,

I’d like to deviate a little from my usual opening if you don’t mind! And while I won’t be writing something from personal experience per say, this is still something that God put on my heart! Last Sunday Pastor Mark talked about the odds of all the prophecies regarding Jesus’ life and death being fulfilled. My mind immediately went to a devotion I read from Charles Stanley’s In Touch devotional. I’ve saved it ever since 2001 because it was so mind blowing. I’d forgotten about or I would have shared it during Christmas. Since this coming Sunday is Easter, I’d like to share it with you all:
“God’s plan and preparation for the coming of Jesus Christ as Redeemer was as detailed and precise as to be mind-boggling. He managed, manipulated, and moved men, nations, civilizations, and even the heavens to bring about at a given time the birth and death of our Savior. God used the prophets for centuries to proclaim some of the most minute details about Jesus; details that only Jesus Christ in all of human history has fulfilled. For one person to fulfill the prophecies of 48 major prophecies in the Old Testament, the odds are one in a trillion to the 13th power. The mathematical chances of one person fulfilling even eight of the prophecies are tantamount to filling the state of Texas with two feet of silver dollars, placing a star on the bottom of one, having a person walk the state to choose just one of the silver dollars only to see him discover the very one with the star on it! And yet Jesus Christ, and Jesus Christ alone, fulfills not eight but every single one of the 48 major prophecies.”
Isn’t that amazing? Isn’t that so like our God? As if trying to fathom the extent of His love for us being manifested in Jesus’ death and resurrection wasn’t enough, we can now also try to wrap our heads around the accuracy of all those predictions regarding Jesus. And the impossibility of any mortal man proving them correct. Happy Easter everyone!

SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE – The Story that Changed the World (Matthew 28:1-10) CANTATA
This Easter Sunday, we have the privilege of having our choir share with us the story of God’s work among the people of this world. There is no narrative in all of history that has had a more profound effect. Join us to experience this incredible music, and to witness again why the Easter story has been such a force throughout history – one that continues to impact the world today. Then we’ll take a few minutes to talk about whether it’s possible that this story is actually just a myth. We’ll read the account from one of Jesus’ disciples, and invite every person to respond to the story that changed the world.

You won’t want to miss our choir’s presentation of “The Story-The Musical” which is based on the book by Max Lucado with music written by Nichole Nordeman. It’s not just a Resurrection story, it’s the bigger, beautiful, miraculous story of God’s redemptive plan from Genesis to Revelation.

Sunday’s worship service is available on CD immediately following the service for FREE. Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone you would like to share Hope with. Pastor Mark’s messages are also available on our website: www.hopechristianfellowship.org.
SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER TIME – 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s Office
Do you have a heart for prayer? Our Sunday morning prayer time is open to everyone. We pray for the services that morning and for the needs in the church. If you would like to participate, just show up! “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)

PRAYER HUDDLE – 8:40 to 8:45 for Both Services
The prayer huddle is open to anyone who would like to come pray – but it is specifically intended for those who are serving on that Sunday. So if you’re scheduled to be in kids’ ministry, greeting, in the tech booth, on worship team, or any other ministry role for a given Sunday, join us at 8:40 sharp in the Youth Room to pray together for God’s power in each of us. We can do all things through Christ, and nothing of worth without Him, so let’s come together each Sunday to ask for God’s Spirit to fill us and use us!

I will not look with approval on anything that is vile. I hate what faithless people do; I will have no part in it. The perverse in heart shall be far from me; I will have nothing to do with what is evil.

Each month we’ll focus on one of our church goals for 2019 and have a weekly challenge to help us achieve it! Let’s ask the Lord to work through us this year!
How can you use how God made you to help people feel like they are truly a part of our Hope family?

Come join us for this study on the book of Ephesians. It’s a good mid-week boost for our spiritual growth. If you are unable to make it out, you can watch our live stream on Facebook!
