Bible Study is cancelled tonight due to inclement weather. Although it’s disappointing to miss a meeting, you can always use tonight to catch up on a sermon or other Wednesday night study you might have missed by watching our YouTube channel or listening to a Podcast! Stay safe and warm and we’ll see you Sunday!

Dear Hope Friends,
This past Sunday we had our Worship Service. A service packed with praise, designed to help us focus on giving our Lord the worship He alone deserves. It was a morning that just opened the floodgates, allowing praise and worship to flow from grateful hearts. All around the auditorium hands were lifted high, like children reaching up to their Father. I love worshiping God, especially through music. But we can worship Him in all sorts of ways. It’s a condition of our hearts; a willingness to acknowledge His supremacy and yield to His will. Romans 12:1-2 says it best: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God — this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is — his good, pleasing and perfect will.” I think that pretty much covers every thought and every action we have! John Piper put it his way, “In the New Testament, perhaps to our amazement, is an utterly stunning degree of indifference to worship as an outward ritual, and an utterly radical intensification of worship as an inward experience of the heart.” We could say that worship is a verbalization of love and gratitude, of awe and wonder, of praise and prayer. These things should manifest themselves in our daily lives, not just while we are singing at a Sunday morning church service. More than just the words of a song, worship becomes the very words of our hearts towards God. We are called to worship Him. “Honor the LORD for the glory of his name. Worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.” (Psalm 29:2) So let us remember to give our King the worship He alone deserves. “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker.” (Psalm 95:6)

The greatest sermon ever preached still has unbelievable power to change us. Jesus spoke these words about 2000 years ago to a large audience on a hillside, but He meant them to challenge us as well. The thoughts upend normal thinking on almost every spiritual front, and if we want to follow Jesus, much of what He represents starts here!

SUNDAY MORNING MESSAGE – Do Not Worry (Matthew 6:25-34)
Back in the 80s, a very popular song suggested “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”. The catchy tune coupled with a very simple formula for a carefree life was quite appealing. But it did seem to oversimplify the process of letting go of worry. For many of us, worry is a constant companion. We don’t want harm to come to the people we love. We don’t want to lose what is important to us. So we are drawn into worry. But in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus gives us pretty clear instruction that we are not to worry. How is that even possible? Jesus gives some logic and a few examples to help us let go of anxiety, and instead to trust our Creator and Savior in such a way that our lives are free from the slavery of worry!
Sunday’s worship service is available on CD immediately following the service for FREE. Pick up a copy for yourself or for anyone you would like to share Hope with. Pastor Mark’s messages are also available on our website: www.hopechristianfellowship.org.

SUNDAY MORNING PRAYER TIME – 8:30 in Pastor Mark’s Office
Do you have a heart for prayer? Our Sunday morning prayer time is open to everyone. We pray for the services that morning and for the needs in the church. If you would like to participate, just show up! “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20)

PRAYER HUDDLE – 8:40 to 8:45 for Both Services
The prayer huddle is open to anyone who would like to come pray – but it is specifically intended for those who are serving on that Sunday. So if you’re scheduled to be in kids’ ministry, greeting, in the tech booth, on worship team, or any other ministry role for a given Sunday, join us at 8:40 sharp in the Youth Room to pray together for God’s power in each of us. We can do all things through Christ, and nothing of worth without Him, so let’s come together each Sunday to ask for God’s Spirit to fill us and use us!

“You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

Each month we’ll focus on one of our church goals for 2019 and have a weekly challenge to help us achieve it! Let’s ask the Lord to work through us this year!
