MMP: Running Toward Lions

October 2, 2017
Note: Each week we will have a guest writer who will share a few of their personal thoughts on Sunday’s sermon. Unlike Monday Morning Quarterbacking, from which this series gets its name, we aren’t looking to critique so much as share how we have been personally impacted. This week’s post comes from Melissa McGinness.

TITLE: Wise Connections
PASSAGE: Proverbs 12:18, 25, 15, 26

I don’t know about you but I’m consistently amazed at God’s design in all things.  In 1 Corinthians 12:12 it says “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ”.  We are one body and the parts of the body are designed to function for each other’s benefit as a living and breathing organism should.

In today’s message, the last in the series about the connection we need in our church, Mark illustrated through Proverbs God’s design for our connections in four distinct ways:

  • God designed people to speak into one another’s lives and you will know you are around the right people when those words bring healing.
  • God wants us to intentionally connect with people despite what our fears may whisper. Sometimes the answer for your soul is found by running toward the lion’s roar.
  • God wants us to choose humility and intentionally listen for understanding as we connect with others. We aren’t the answer to our lives, he is and so we must let him speak.
  • God asks that we choose our connections with wisdom. The fruit of one’s actions is a clear indicator of what we can look forward to or be wary of when choosing to connect.

God has made provision through our church family to unlock his power and use that for the good of one another’s lives.  Have you been intentional in whom you choose to be around and let speak into your life?  Are you letting God use you to be that person to speak and heal?

At Hope we aren’t just hoping you attend the church, but rather that you are connected and a vital part of this ministry.  As Mark put it best, you can sign up on a sheet to say you will participate but it’s the action in making what you’ve signed up for a priority in your life that really makes the difference.  Let’s be the church God designed us to be!  Let’s connect and see what God has in store for those connections!
